I took up yoga over a decade ago as a way to build strength and flexibility following surgery to fix fractures in my lower spine. I wanted to run a marathon, and yoga was recommended as a way to help me get there.
I started just dabbling with stretches, but the more I practiced, the stronger I got and the more I enjoyed my yoga classes. Yoga did help to give me my marathon, but I was surprised at how much more it gave me both physically and mentally.
“I truly believe that practising yoga makes me healthier from the inside out by helping me slow down, keeping me grounded and giving me clarity amidst the chaos that is life with two young boys.”
I fell in love with yoga practice so much that I thought about becoming a yoga teacher for several years, but always found a reason why it might not be the right time. Finally, I took the plunge in 2021, and ironically, after one week of signing up, found out I was pregnant with my second baby! I did the whole of my 200-hour training whilst pregnant, which gave me great insight into how to modify and adapt my yoga practice to suit my changing body.
Since having both my babies, yoga has helped me not only in terms of physical recovery but in finding the mental strength needed during the craziness that is having a new baby. I wanted to be able to offer this to other mums, so took my Post Natal Teacher Training in 2022.
I truly believe that practising yoga makes me healthier from the inside out by helping me slow down, keeping me grounded and giving me clarity amidst the chaos that is life with two young boys. I want to share this wonderful practice with you, demonstrate the different ways it can positively impact your life, and offer ideas and opportunities for how to fit it into the incredibly busy lives we all lead.
